2010 List of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon
E-mail

October 2010 cover of Oregon Business

Almost 5,000 nonprofit employees from more than 150 organizations around the state participated in the second annual 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon survey, and they had a lot to say about what it takes to be a great place to work. What did it take to be among The Best? An organization had to create an environment of trust, professionalism and care, along with providing training, support and career opportunities. And sometimes it was important to allow a dog to roam, be flexible with schedules and to laugh. A lot. When that happened, employees gave their loyalty, dedication and hard work.

Oregon Business launched this new project to recognize nonprofits as key businesses critical to the economic health of the state, employing hundreds of thousands of Oregonians. This specially designed survey, which was inspired by the 100 Best Companies project, was comprised of an employee questionnaire and an independent assessment of the employer’s workplace practices. It was launched in partnership with The Nonprofit Association of Oregon, which helped craft the employee survey. Nonprofits and not-for-profits were eligible and there was no cost to enter the survey. Research partner Davis, Hibbitts and Midghall and Oregon Business research editor Brandon Sawyer used these surveys to create the 100 Best ranking.

And now the drum roll. Here are the 2010 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon. We celebrate your great workplaces.
