Oregon Business is proud to launch the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon this year to recognize nonprofits as key businesses critical to the economic health of the state, and ones that employ hundreds of thousands of Oregonians.

Being a great place to work is just as important to nonprofit organizations as it is to for-profit companies. Workplace satisfaction helps retain the best employees, cuts turnover costs, boosts productivity and creativity, and gives organizations a competitive edge. In an economy where every dollar and every resource counts, it’s crucial for employers to know how to effectively manage their workforce.

100 Best Nonprofits Press Release

Oregon Business magazine has named the first annual 100 Best Nonprofits to Work for in Oregon. The rankings were revealed Tuesday night in a sold-out event at the Portland Art Museum, along with the October issue of the magazine, which spotlights the winners and the nonprofit sector.

More than 6,700 employees at over 200 nonprofits throughout the state participated in the project. Based on the magazine’s widely regard 100 Best Companies project, the nonprofit version was created to recognized a critical business sector that employs hundreds of thousands of workers.

The 100 Best Green Companies survey

Based on its widely recognized 100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon project, the 100 Best Green Companies are determined by an anonymous employee survey and an independent assessment of the employers’ sustainability practices.

For the second annual 100 Best Green Companies in 2010, Sustainable Practices questions were incorporated into both the 100 Best Nonprofits survey, conducted April-June 2009 and the 100 Best Companies survey, conducted August-November 2009. More than 26,000 employees from more than 500 Oregon workplaces took part in these two surveys.
